Branded Laptops

branded laptopWhether you’re buying a car, a washing machine or a computer, brands matter. That’s why, each year, we evaluate the leading laptop brands to determine which provide the best products and support. While even the lowest-ranked companies offer some quality laptops and the top brands have a few less-than-perfect entries, it’s important to know about the manufacturer when you’re considering your purchase. – This year, Apple and Dell maintained their positions as the No. 1 and No. 2 rated brands, respectively, while Asus jumped up from seventh place to third, based on some very strong products. By the same token, HP fell from third to sixth, due to a series of mediocre laptops, not much innovation and weak support.

Branded Server

serverA server is a computer program or a device that provides functionality for other programs or devices, called “clients”. This architecture is called the client–server model, and a single overall computation is distributed across multiple processes or devices. Servers can provide various functionalities, often called “services”, such as sharing data or resources among multiple clients, or performing computation for a client. A single server can serve multiple clients, and a single client can use multiple servers. A client process may run on the same device or may connect over a network to a server on a different device. Typical servers are database servers, file servers, mail servers, print servers, web servers, game servers, and application servers.

Printer, Scanner and Copiers

printer scanner and copierIn computers, a printer is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard size sheets of paper. Printers are sometimes sold with computers, but more frequently are purchased separately. Printers vary in size, speed, sophistication, and cost. In general, more expensive printers are used for higher-resolution color printing.

A scanner is a device that captures images from photographic prints, posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for computer editing and display. Scanners come in hand-held, feed-in and flatbed types and for scanning black-and-white only, or color. Very high resolution scanners are used for scanning for high-resolution printing, but lower resolution scanners are adequate for capturing images for computer display. Scanners usually come with software, such as Adobe’s Photoshop product, that lets you resize and otherwise modify a captured image.

A photocopier is an electronic machine that makes copies of images and documents. Photocopiers were once single-function devices. Now, enterprise-grade photocopiers are usually networked and perform multiple functions. They are available in desktop or free-standing models. For home and small business use, photocopying is often bundled with scanning, printing and faxing capabilities in a multifunction peripheral (MFP) device.

Most photocopiers use xerography, a duplication technology based on electrostatic charges. The technology was developed by Xerox. For many years, photocopying was known informally as “Xeroxing.”

Network Storage Products

network storage productsStorage networking is the practice of linking together storage devices and connecting them to other IT networks. Storage networks provide a centralized repository for digital data that can be accessed by many users, and they use high-speed connections to provide fast performance. It’s most common to find storage networks in enterprise settings, although some vendors do sell networked storage products for consumers and small businesses.

External HDD and Media Products

external hdd and media productsAdding storage has never been cheaper. For around $50, you can add a terabyte of storage to your laptop or desktop. That’s enough for more than 750,000 MP3s or photos, or more than 230 full-length movie files. Every computer out there, from mega-huge desktop towers to budget-price Windows tablets, can connect to at least one hard drive. If you’re lucky enough to have multiple I/O ports, you can hook up many more. But which to choose? There’s a lot to consider—desktop- or laptop-class, traditional spinning or solid-state drive (SSD) are only a couple of factors.

Cartridge And Toner Scales

cartridge and toner salesToner cartridges contain toner powder, a fine, dry mixture of plastic particles, carbon, and black or other coloring agents that make the actual image on the paper.

Toner scales:

A special type of ink used by copy machines and laser printers. Toner consists of a dry, powdery substance that is electrically charged so that it adheres to a drum, plate, or piece of paper charged with the opposite polarity.

For most laser printers, the toner comes in a cartridge that you insert into the printer. When the cartridge is empty, you can replace it or have it refilled. Typically, you can print thousands of pages with a single cartridge.
